Australian Citizenship rule changes




It is now tougher to become Australian Citizenship. The Turnbull government if tightening the requirements for Australian Citizenship.

As per new Rules:

  • new applicants now required to have lived in Australia as a permanent resident for at least 4 years (up from one year)
  • Applicant Must Pass tougher English test
  • The applicant will only be allowed to fail the citizenship test three times.
  • Applicant get caught cheating during test will automatically fail
  • new Citizenship test will include new and meaningful questions
  • All applicants must need to show the steps they have taken to integrate into and contribute to the Australian community (evidence of employment, membership of community organizations, school enrollment for all eligible children)
  • Full police check. Must not have any history of violence or criminal activity.
