PIO Holders please read

Haven’t converted your PIO card to OCI yet?

All existing PIO cards are handwritten and will become invalid travel documents from October 2018 onward. it is necessary for PIO cardholders to obtain machine readable OCI Cards in lieu of existing hand-written PIO cards before October 2018 to avoid any inconvenience.





The Indian High commission says there will be no charge to convert PIO to OCI and the deadline is 31st December 2017. As per ministry of affairs no extension will be given. The PIO card to OCI card conversation requires only two documents.

1. Valid Passport
2. PIO Card

It will take approx. 4 weeks to convert PIO to OCI. If additional clearance is required it may take up to 8 weeks.
