How to Apply for TFN?

If you want to work in Australia, you must have TFN (Tax File Number). It is free to apply. You can apply for TFN when you are in Australia.

TFN application usually takes up to 28 days so you should apply as soon as you are in Australia. You need basic details such as Passport number, Birth Date, Address etc.

You must apply from ATO website. You can directly go to apply page from here.

Things to remember: Only apply once. Do not reapply for TFN even if you don’t get your TFN number within 28 days. It will delay more. Always contact ATO on 13 28 65
