Total 4.5 lakh littre of ghee were offered to goddess at an palli procession in Rupal village on dasera night in 2016.
Traditionally, the goddess’s palli is prepared by devotees from various castes. Millions of devotees from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and from other states to come to Rupal on 9th night of navaratra.
What is Palli:
Palli is a wooden frame and height is about 7 feet. It is having fire kindled at top of the frame as well as fire kindled on all of its four corners.
People’s believe:
People of the village say that, This festival has been started by the “Pandavs” since the time of Mahabharat. People come to the village and do prayer for their family and mainly their small children.
Since last 2 years, the district administration and officials has been trying to tell villegers to change this custom to save wastage of so much ghee instead donate this ghee to the poor people and/or spend this money to build big and best temple on the world.
Devotees ignore this request and wants to celebrate the festival they do every year. This year total 4.15 lakh littlre of ghee was used. After this festival you can see Ghee every where and also see poor people filling ghee for their use.
