An Indian Journalist accused of trying to smuggle group of other Indians into Australia, for a payment of $12,000, will remain behind bars after being denied bail. Mr Sharma accused of using fake media credentials for eight Indian farmers. They arrived at Brisbane on March 28 where they all were detained by border officers.
He applied to Bail but magistrate Suzzette said she there was an unacceptable risk that Mt Sharma may try to return to India given he did not have ties or family in Australia.
Mr Sharma will remain in custody until the case returns to court on September 7. The maximum penalty for the offence is 20 years behind bars
