Indian girl was attacked on Melbourne Train




Kritika, 23 years and Monash university student, was attacked on train at Melbourne. She believes it was racially motivated attack. She was returning from a trip to city with her friend around 5 AM when the incident occurred.

In the interview with 7 news she said ” All the girls started hitting me really badly. They kicked me, they punched me. They pulled my hair. I have bruises. She believes it was racially motivated attack”

She also said ” The girl who started hitting me was a white girl”

An ambulance was called and she was taken to the Alfred hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Se has since been released from the hospital.

An investigation is ongoing and police are appealing to anyone who has any information about this attack to call crime stopper on 1800 333 000

Safety tips to consider when travelling on Train:

  • When travelling alone, Try to sit in the carriage closest to the driver cabin. the first carriage
  • Try to sit in carriages with other customers, rather than by yourself
  • Do not argue with aggressive person
  • If you feel unsafe change carriage or contact driver using emergency button
  • When waiting on the platform, stand in the area which is brightly lit, covered by CCTV and close to emergency help point
